One World Observatory

Blur Studio was tasked with recreating all of lower Manhattan throughout history for the unveiling of the elevator at the One World Observatory in the new Freedom Tower in New York City.

This was no small feat for our small team: the ride is about 45s and we needed to show the full history of the city with alternative renders for night, day and for the descent. The screens surround the rider so the renders needed to sync up perfectly.

Ultimately the talented people at Blur made it work and it was a pleasure for me to lead a team of matte painters in pulling this off.
